Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
We present a technical article, co-authored by Dr. Nuno Gomes and Dr. Luís Mendonça, about efficacy of hyperbaric oxygen therapy in the central retinal artery occlusion treatment.
The occlusion of the central retinal artery is a severe case in ophthalmology. Hyperoxia can restore retinal oxygenation. There were studied two cases of sudden vision loss due to the occlusion of the central retinal artery treated by hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
The study concluded, that hyperbaric oxygen therapy, may be beneficial in the recovery of vision, after occlusion of the central retinal artery.
